You need to pack/buy – a tent, spare pegs, chairs, tables, sleeping bags, pillows, airbeds, pump, torches, a cooking stove, gas canisters, kettle, frying pan, utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, cups, cutlery, washing-up bowl, washing-up liquid, teatowels, , … the list goes on!
After you’ve got your kit, you need to load the car (taking care not to forget anything like the kids or dog!) and drive to your site, find your pitch. Then spend 1-2 hours putting everything up – there’s normally an argument on where and how the tent goes up – and sorting out sleeping arrangements. Then at the end of your stay, you have to spend another 1-2 hours taking everything down, packing everything up in the car and drive home.
Even when you get home the job isn’t done then, you have to unpack the car/kit, clean everything, if the tent is wet find somewhere to dry it, replace any broken items and then pack it all away.
